Rogue Chocolate Stout

Rogue Chocolate Stout is probably my favorite chocolate beer. My wife got me one to try as an anniversary gift, and what a treat that was. So I cracked open the cool bottle, and poured it into my favorite pint glass, to get idea of the composition. It poured dark chocolate in color, and had a good head with some decent carbonation. The lacing was there in full force, and as I am a beer drinking that must have his lacing, I was thrilled. Next, a catch of the aroma. I brought my nose down to the brew, and what a terrific malty chocolate smell, rich with almost an undertone of roasted coffee beans. Now for the taste, I pulled some in, and wow, the chocolate taste is really there, bitter in a semisweet Bakers chocolate cacao sort of way. Second thought, it's not as sweet as other chocolate beers I've had, so that means I can drink a couple bottles in a sitting, as it isn't as desserty as I thought it would be. The aftertaste was almost like a chocolate espresso. Excellent beer all around, and highly recommended. You really have to just love Oregon beer. I tip my hat to the boys over at Rogue Ales, fine work gentlemen.
