This fine chocolate stout is brewed by Kraftbrau Brewery in Michigan. It's a run of the mill stout, with a rich black body, and light tan head. The head left my pint glass in about 2 minutes. As soon as I popped the top, I smelt the aroma of chocolate swirling around me. I also detected notes of almonds, roasted malts, and spice. With regard to the beer's taste, it was very sweet, and the chocolate taste was the predominate factor, overpowering just about everything else. The aftertaste was a bit malty, maybe even a bit spicy or nutty. The chocolate beer felt light in my mouth, and went down silky smooth. I could hardly even taste the alcohol, as it's low at about 6%. Overall I liked it, though it was an absolute home run like some of the other chocolate beers I've tasted. I guess I just felt it was missing something, a flavor note or two, perhaps a bit more of an alcohol kick. This is another fine candidate for anyone who enjoys a light stout, with the traditional heavy alcohol content, though people like that will be hard to come by, as most beer guys like myself require a meal out of a stout, and nothing less. I tip my pint glass to the fine folks at Kraftbau Brewery, although this chocolate stout is my favorite, it was still well above average. Good work guys.
